Health Care Program

Having a sick child can be emotionally and financially devastating to any family. But the effects are felt even more strongly by families already living in poverty, and by those in the foster care system. County and statewide budget cuts have left hundreds of thousands of children, many of whom suffer from abuse, neglect and pre-natal exposure to drugs and alcohol, without insurance. Countless others are finding it more and more difficult to find a doctor that accepts Medi-Cal.

As a result, these families are left feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed and alone. The Alliance for Children's Rights is working to help them. By identifying pediatricians and specialists willing to care for them and resolving legal issues necessary to ensure that adequate care is received, this program provides hundreds of children access to quality, continuous medical care.

Trainings
The Alliance is a key resource for health care providers serving impoverished and foster care children. Working with social service providers, The Alliance conducts regular training programs to educate participants about the critical issues related to medical consent, health care law and foster care benefits.
